An honest guide

How to get Shopify support (and what it can’t do for you)

Shopify’s support is real — around-the-clock chat, deep docs, humans who know the platform. Here’s how to reach them, and the line nobody draws for you: where platform help ends.

How to reach a human

The path to a human

Three moves, in order. Skip none of them — the flow is the filter.

01

Start in the Help Center

help.shopify.com. Search runs AI-first and answers most platform questions before you ever reach a person — billing how-tos, settings, error messages.

02

Chat with a Support Advisor

From any Help Center page, contact options lead to live chat with a real advisor, available around the clock on standard plans. This is the channel — there’s no queue to jump.

03

Phone and email: Plus and Retail only

help.shopify.com says it directly: “You can’t request a callback or phone Shopify directly” unless your store is on the Shopify Plus plan, or the Retail plan with Shopify POS Pro.

Channel rules per help.shopify.com, September 2026. Check their Help Center for current availability.

What an advisor will help with — and won’t

Support Advisors help you with the platform. Running the store is a different job — and it was always going to be yours.

Platform — yes

  • Billing, plans, and invoices
  • Domains and DNS
  • Account access and security
  • Shopify Payments and payouts
  • Store settings and platform features

Store operations — no

  • Chase your 3PL when a parcel stalls
  • Answer your customers’ WISMO emails
  • Clear your refund and ticket backlog
  • Write and run your campaigns
  • Do the operational work of the store

An advisor can explain a Shopify setting. Nobody at Shopify will chase your 3PL, answer your tickets, or run your campaigns — that’s not a failure, it’s just not the job.

Your customers don’t email Shopify

When a parcel stalls at 11pm, it’s your inbox that lights up, not theirs. The Help Center covers the platform half of your life — plans, domains, payouts — and the community forums are decent for the same. The operations half has always belonged to you.

Tickets at midnight. Refunds on Sunday. Campaigns nobody wrote. That half is the gap.

The other option

The operations half, covered

Felix is an AI agent with a job title — your AI Operating Partner. He answers your customers in your voice, looks up the order in Shopify, issues the refund, and chases the 3PL over email while you sleep.

Approval-first, every step visible — he covers exactly the work a Support Advisor can’t.

Can I call Shopify?

Not on standard plans — chat with an advisor is the channel. Phone and email open up on Shopify Plus, or Retail with POS Pro.

Will support run my store?

No — advisors support the platform: billing, domains, account, payments, settings. Orders, customers, and campaigns are yours.
